But the Samsung CLX-3175FN printer with Samsung 3175FN cartridges, is a multi-function type that surprisingly comes with a more compact form. It’s a laser, scanner, copier and fax machine in an elegant black body which can be placed practically anywhere.
Its body measures only 415 mm (width) x 342 mm (height) x 373 mm (depth) and it tips the scale at a little over 15 kg. On the top panel you can spot the buttons and a two-line LCD which helps simplify the operation. Compared to others, it’s quieter too since it has the NO NOIS technology which keeps the noise emitted below 46 dBA when printing with printer toner.
Working as a printer, it’s fast enough to churn out 16 monochrome and 4 color pages in a minute. Such performance is based on using A4 size sheets, but may still vary depending on the computer’s system and content of the document. An optical resolution of up to 2400 x 600 dots per inch is used for clear images and crisp texts. There’s support for manual duplex, and the language used is SPL-C.
To help catch up with your day-to-day output requirements, there’s the 150-sheet input cassette tray and 80-sheet (face down) output capacity. Media sizes it can work on are those from as little as 76 mm x 160 mm to as large as 216 mm x 356 mm. Media types supported are regular paper, glossy, recycled, letterhead, punched, card, labels, envelopes and transparencies. Monthly duty cycle is listed at 20000 pages.
Starter toner cartridges come with the product when it’s purchased. The black toner cartridge can yield up to 1000 pages, while the others (yellow, magenta and cyan) can yield as much as 700 pages. Because of the machine’s design wherein the toner cartridges are secured in place, unlike other similar units, noise can be minimized when running.
It employs a flatbed type of scanner. It has a 1200 x 1200 dpi optical resolution, although it may be enhanced to a resolution of as much as 4800 x 4800 dpi. There are certain features around for your scanning convenience, such as scanning directly to an application, a network, folder or USB-enabled gadget plugged into this machine.
Working as a copier, it can take on monochrome and color tasks alike. The first monochrome copy is out in 18 seconds, while the first color one takes less than 45 seconds to be ejected. When using A4 media, it’s capable of churning out up to 16 monochrome and 4 color copies a minute. It’s possible to reduce or enlarge the document (25 to 400 percent), and there are functions like ID, N-UP, poster and clone copies.
This all-in-one machine also works as an ITU-T G3 class fax. It has a 300 x 300 dpi resolution for monochrome documents, while it uses a 200 x 200 dpi resolution for color ones. A 2MB memory is around, and the transmission speed is 33.6 Kbps.
The Samsung CLX-3175FN printer with Samsung 3175FN cartridge, is hooked up to a computer or a network via the hi-speed USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX interfaces. The fitted USB port allows you to print directly from a smartphone, digital camera or USB flash drive without using a computer, but with using printer toner. Likewise, you may also send a scanned document directly to a plugged-in USB-enabled device to use printer toner cartridge.
